From Goulburn Murray Water

"Upgrade works close access on Buffalo River Road at Lake Buffalo Dam on 21 and 22 April

Tuesday 20 April, 2010

Goulburn-Murray Water (G-MW) will soon commence upgrade works to the access at Lake Buffalo Dam to meet occupational health and safety requirements.

The work will involve the removal and replacement of the existing access stairs to the spillway chute.

Lifting plant will be operating on the dam to carry out this work and will require the Buffalo River Road at Lake Buffalo Dam to temporarily close.

Access across Buffalo Dam will be closed to all traffic on Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 April 2010, between 10 am and 4 pm, weather permitting.

Please obey all temporary signposting and traffic control measures.

G-MW apologises for any inconvenience this essential work may cause."

The route to Abbeyard via Whitfield and Tolmie is not affected. Ian says there is an alternative way around, which has previously been signposted as a detour, that takes about an extra 1/2 an hour from Myrtleford and comes out at Dandongadale. Not a hard drive, just longer.

Have not been able to contact M-GW to check if this is extending into Friday, hopefully works go on time.

Click here to see a google map picture of the way from Glenrowan (A-C) or Mansfeild (E-C)

Note:The times on the google map are not the best.
When you take dirt roads into account there is about an hour worth of dirt road driving between whitfeild to abbeyard

Paul Lacey was on his way down there late this afternoon; he was going to ask at Myrtleford what the go was.
