can anybody recomend a mechanic that can rebuild a rear shock off an Yam FJ 1200

You could also look at Krooz Tune, who are out your side of town.

There is also a Brisbane mob, Rad Motorcycle Shocky Repairs. 07 3892 6493. Postage is cheap these days.

I had RAD rebuild my PE shocks.

I don't know about the FJ's, but the PE's are supposedly not re-buildable, but RAD have perfected a method to do so, and by all accounts are getting good results.  I haven't ridden my PE yet, so I can't comment!

But would it matter if they just bottomed out on you? :P

Also have a look at Gazi suspension who may do a replacement unit, and Ikon or Hagon for a replacement shock.
